Toby Keith's Surprise Concert After Year Of Battling Stomach Cancer

Toby's Diagnosis

Last year, Keith revealed to fans that he had been secretly battling stomach cancer. In an Instagram post, he confessed,

"Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I've spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation, and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover, and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can't wait." T

Fans were obviously upset by this news and prayed for Toby's safe and fast recovery. The former football player immediately canceled any performances from that time on. Less than a year later, Keith surprised fans when he performed a 2 1/2 hour show in Hollywood Corners, a bar he owns in his home state of Oklahoma.

The Toby Keith Foundation

Even while Toby is battling cancer himself, he still has time to help the children fighting the same fight. The mission of The Toby Keith Foundation is to encourage the health and happiness of pediatric cancer patients and to support OK Kids Korral. The OK Kids Korral is a center for an entire family as their child receives cancer treatment.

Toby's Comeback Concert

Toby posted on Instagram a picture of him and his "writing buddy" Scotty Emerick saying,

"It felt so right, Toby had to do it twice. Two nights in a row at Hollywood Corners. Writing buddy Scotty Emerick joined Toby. Nights to remember! Toby’s back!"

We're so glad to see a smile on Toby's face. Although he may look a bit different since the last time we saw him perform, the 61 year-old did not disappoint with his on-stage presence. And don't worry, the red solo cup made an appearance as well. According to sources, there is talk that Keith and his team anticipate him to be back on the road again soon. But for now, check out Toby on stage.
