The Andie Summers Show

Morgan Wallen accepts and award onstage during the The 54th Annual CMA Awards at Nashville’s Music City Center on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 in Nashville, Tennessee.

The 2023 Country Music Association Awards, or CMAs, are coming up on November 8th, and that means it’s time to make our picks.  This is your chance to vote for CMA New Artist of the Year. Morgan Wallen took the trophy home a few years ago. Who will it be this year? Scroll to the bottom for the list of nominees and to vote.

Have you ever wondered who chooses the winners? As a lifetime member of the CMA, I have the opportunity to vote for the awards you see given at the live broadcast ceremony in Nashville. I consider it a privilege, and not one I take lightly. As you are who we play the music for, I think it is only right for you to complete my ballot. You, XTU Nation, have a voice in who will be awarded the trophies at this year’s CMA Awards.

What is CMA?

Before we get into the categories, do you know what the CMA is? The Country Music Association was established in 1958, making it the first trade organization formed to promote country music. According to CMA World, the very first CMA Awards Show was a banquet held in 1967. It has become the longest-running annual music awards program on television.

The awards are voted on by the more than 6,200 industry professionals who are members of the CMA. And this year they have a tough row to hoe.

This year the CMA is celebrating its 57th year with the awards show set for November 8th, 2023. The event will be held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and will be hosted by Luke Bryan with Peyton Manning. You can watch the show live on ABC, or stream it on Hulu.

This year’s CMA New Artist nominees have each made an impact in the past year. It is going to be a difficult decision, but you are up to the task.

Let’s take a look at the nominations for …

New Artist of the Year

  • Zach Bryan

This guy is on fire. Originally from Oklahoma, he has spent some time in Philadelphia (where he became a big Philly sports fan).

  • Jelly Roll

There has never been a more storied past than that of Jelly Roll. And that’s saying a lot in country music. He has a lot to sing about … and he does it beautifully.

  • Parker McCollum

A Texas boy with talent to boot. Parker McCollum has been writing his own music for years. When he moved to Nashville he started collaborating with some of the best, and they’ve created 3 #1 songs … so far.

  • Megan Moroney

Megan Moroney hails from Georgia, which you already know if you ever heard her song “Tennessee Orange”. She is wearing Morgan Wallen’s Vols jersey in the video. NO confirmation on whether or not they dated …

  • Hailey Whitters

Hailey Whitters is new to country radio, but she’s been making waves for a while. Hailey has written songs for Little Big Town and Alan Jackson. She was a body double for Miranda Lambert and her voice has been compared to Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks, but make no mistake about it – she is her own person and her music is great.
