Doug Pederson was back in Philly yesterday for the first time since he was let go as head coach. He’s now with the Jags, but Philly – and his former players – will never forget what he did for them.  (In case you did, he won the Eagles first ever Super Bowl)!   He clearly means alot to some of his former players, especially Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson and Jalen Hurts. Eagles did beat the Jags yesterday, which obviously is awesome.

Here is what they had to say about Doug:

  • Lane Johnson Says Doug Saved Him

“Me and Kelce got a little teary-eyed. It was the first time I’ve seen him since everything took place. You just wish him the best. Hell of a coach, and a hell of a person.”  “Little bit emotional, man,” Johnson said. “Spent a lot of my good years with Doug. I felt like he was a guy who was really instrumental in bringing me back from the abyss, so to speak. Any time I was down and needed an encouraging word, he was there. I felt like he might have seen himself a little bit in me, kind of being from the same region, similar mannerisms. You miss him. Anybody who comes in and wins a championship and lays his heart on the line for the team, you have a tremendous amount of respect for him.

  • Jalen Hurts Says Doug is the Reason He's the Eagles QB

As we know, it was a HUGE deal when the Eagles drafted Jalen Hurts.  Carson Wentz just signed a massive deal and was supposed to be the long time Eagles QB.  It turns out, Doug and Howie felt they needed reassurance so they drafted Jalen Hurts in the second row of the draft, which made headlines in the sports world.  Eventually Carson Wentz was benched for Jalen, and well the rest is history.
