The hardest part of any off-season is losing your favorite players. Unfortunately, the Phillies are reportedly moving on from two star players this off-season. The last two years with this Phillies team have been magical. The 2022 season came as such a huge surprise. The Phillies were a wild card and made it all the way to the World Series. Unfortunately, we lost to the Houston Astros, but man it was fun. This season the Phillies were set up to go all the way. In fact, all the Phillies had to do was win 2 games and they were back to the World Series. Obviously, we know we happened. The bats went cold and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat us and went on to lose in the World Series to the Texas Rangers.
One player not leaving is Bryce Harper. In fact, he’s still around Philly shaking hands and kissing babies. Check out where he’s been spotted.
5 Surprising Places Bryce Harper Has Been Spotted Around Philly Since Phillies Season Ended
Glad to see he’s still around. Here are 5 surprising places Bryce Harper has been spotted around Philly since the Phillies season ended. Bryce lives in Las Vegas in the off-season. That’s where he grew up and has his main home. Normally as soon as the season is over, he’s on his private jet back to Las Vegas. Last year was definitely a little different because he got Tommy John surgery for his elbow as soon as the season ended. This year, he was feeling great, and hitting amazingly, until the games where he went cold. Okay okay, we aren’t going to dwell on that.
Bryce and his family reportedly live in South Jersey and he’s been doing the rounds of being a good Philadelphian by showing up at a bunch of different places and has taken quite a few pictures. One could look at it as if he’s staying around, showing up, shaking hands, and kissing babies as a way to make up for not winning, or maybe he really is having a good time just hanging out being a regular dad.
Bryce already has said numerous times he loves it in Philly. That he’s not pandering. He truly loves being here, loves the fans, and wants a parade down Broad Street. WE DO TOO BRYCE! WE DO TOO! There have been reports that he wants to extend his contract with the Phillies, which is interesting since he signed a 13-year deal in 2019. If he signs an extension, he’ll be like 45. But if Tom Brady did it, why can’t Bryce Harper?
I do wish Bryce did more around Philly for those in need. I think it’s interesting he doesn’t have his own foundations, hasn’t visited kids at CHOP or St Chris’, and hasn’t done a turkey drop or anything for underprivileged kids. Chase Utley did so much for the SPCA, and what Carson Wentz did with his food truck, and what Joel Embiid and Jalen Hurts continue to do is amazing. Hopefully, Bryce will follow suit soon. Check out where Bryce has been spotted around Philly since the Phillies season ended.
It was reported that Phillies President Dave Dombrowski said moving forward Bryce Harper will continue playing 1st base, which means our beloved Rhys Hoskins will most likely not be on the Phillies next season. If you remember, Rhys tore his ACL in Spring Training and missed the whole season. The Phillies drafted Rhys in 2014. He’s been here for some of the worst times in Phillies history. He deserved to win a championship here. Not to mention he and his wife Jayme did so much for the city with all their charity work. It’s honestly something Bryce Harper should take a lesson in. It bothers me that Bryce hasn’t done anything for the city. He doesn’t have a foundation, hasn’t gone to visit sick kids, or helped the poor.
After the news broke of Rhys yesterday, MLB put out a story saying the Phillies are “open to the idea” of trading Nick Castellanos. Obviously, the fans went wild. Losing both Rhys and Nick would be such a blow. But the question is, if it means winning a World Series, would you be okay with it?
