First Day Of Spring, A Song All About It
When is the first day of spring? We can tell you that it is in March and there’s a song all about it. On The Andie Summers Show, I, Jeff Kurkjian, write a song every single week in just ten minutes. I change the lyrics of hit country song we play on the show and this week I had to sing about the first day of spring.
When is the first day of spring?
March 20th is the first day of spring. I was challenged to take Kenny Chesney’s “Just To Say We Did” and sing about this momentous day of the year. Here’s the original.
Here’s Jeff’s version of it from our Instagram account!
And from the podcast!
Sing A Long Here!
Got lots of snow and ice and sleet,
Winter was rough with little heat
This winter has just had me beat
I could use some spring
The salt was all up in my car
Could use a drink at my local bar
Warmer weather is my north star
Yeah it’s time for spring
Well baby guess what? Yeah the seasons change
Drinking on the porch, hit the driving range…
It’s the first day of spring!
We finally feel alive
No longer hibernate
See neighbors what a surprise
Now let’s go for a walk, with the dog
He’s not been walked since we saw sidewalk
It’s finally light sweater and shorts season
It’s the first day of Spring!
Ten Minute Tune
Every week, Jeff Kurkjian is tasked with writing a Ten Minute Tune! You pick the song that we play on the radio station and then a topic, he rewrites the lyrics and then performs in LIVE on the air!

How Did Ten Minute Tune Start?
Once could argue that I have been singing these types of songs my entire life. I used to love listening to the radio in the car, changing the lyrics to my favorites songs in my head to make them sound funny. Little did I know I would make a career out of this little hobby.
I grew up a theater kid, performing at stage since I was 10 years old. So singing and performing has always been something that I’ve loved to do. I took piano lessons since the age of six years old and was heavily involved in choir as well. When I got to college, I was a founding member of the a cappella group, Otto Tunes, on the campus of Syracuse University!
It took us a semester to become an official student organization on campus. Here was our FIRST performance after becoming official. It’s Gavin DeGraw’s “Not Over You.”
