Rob McElhenney Shows Philly Love In New Soccer Documentary
How awesome would it be to own your a professional sports franchise? It would be very expensive but it would be pretty awesome!
Well, Philly’s own Rob McElhenney did just that. He had to get a business partner to go on a franchise with him and he chose Ryan Reynolds.
If you don’t know Rob McElhenney, he created and stars as “Mac” in “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” and he is a HUGEEEE Philly sports fan. Everybody should know Ryan Reynolds.
They teamed up to purchase a Welsh football a.k.a soccer club called Wrexham A.F.C. I know you have not heard of this franchise as I haven’t either. You probably know teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United… Those teams are in the top level of English soccer called the Premier League. Well, Wrexham is located about 5 leagues lower than the premier league. Wrexham is a very small town in Wales and the town bleeds Wrexham soccer. They have not had much success over the past decade or so and the purchase of the club by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are giving the club hope since they actually care about the club.
This experience is being documented on a series airing on FX called “Welcome To Wrexham.” It is a must-watch!
