You have to see this video to believe it! Charlie Manuel at one point in his career was actually roommates with the legendary country star, Charley Pride. They spent time together, according to Manuel, in North Dakota playing minor league baseball together.
Scroll down to hear and see the entire interview, wait until you hear what Manuel had to say about Pride’s dream of being a country star, it is incredible!

Managerial Career
Charlie Manuel spent three years managing the Cleveland Indians before becoming the manager for our Philadelphia Phillies from 2005 to 2013. He led the 2008 Phillies to a 4-1 World Series victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Prior to Game Four of the 2022 World Series, Manuel met Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins at the mound after the first pitches were thrown. They were both members managed by Manuel during the 2008 season.

Jeff Kurkjian In Clearwater
I have been lucky enough to spend the last couple days of Spring Training in Clearwater, Florida, home of the Phillies Spring Training stadium, BayCare Park.
We’ve interviewed Charlie Manuel, Dickie Noles (member of 1980 World Series Championship team), Dalton Guthrie, Matt Strahm (a new addition from the Boston Red Sox) and Darick Hall.
You will be able to find all of these interviews on The Andie Summers Page so make sure you don’t miss them there.
Some Context
We talked a LOT of baseball together, you can hear the entire podcasted interview below as well, it’s pretty amazing, but we talked country music of course. Country and baseball go hand in hand, and this is one of those great stories.
