The list includes an alum from the original movie series playing a different character. This is the Harry Potter series cast that we are absolutely dreaming of, hoping and praying for.

We are all familiar (hopefully) with the original books and movies starring those three amazing talents above us. Daniel Radcliffe as Harry PotterEmma Watson as Hermione Granger and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley. However, new life has been brought the Wizarding World!

HBO Reboot Of Harry Potter Is In The Works

We reported this back in April of 2023, but now the rumors are running all over the place about WHO will be part of the cast for the new show.

What we do know is that this will be an adaptation of the original books. Each season of the new show will cover another one of the books. This according to Variety’s article.

Each season of the show will be based on one of the books in the franchise, with Warner Bros. Discovery describing the show as a “decade-long series.” It will feature an entirely new cast from the films.

Who Will Be In The Harry Potter Series Cast??

Now this is purely speculation from a massive fan of the books and movies but I believe I may have made the greatest cast of all time. This list includes alumni from the original movies and some new actors/actresses you might not know (yet).

  • Lucius Malfoy - Tom Felton

Yep, you read that right. How amazing would it be to have Tom Felton, who originally played Draco Malfoy, now portray the older Malfoy in the story?

  • Professor Dumbledore - Sir Ian McKellan

Maybe it’s the idea that he was ALMOST Dumbledore int he original series that has me thinking this way but we would love to see him as the legendary wizard.

  • Professor McGonagall - Emily Blunt

I know she seems a bit young to be playing the shape-shifting disciplinarian but her acting career has been MASSIVE and she could crush this role.

  • Snape - Adam Driver

Okay, listen, I know he isn’t British so he’s going to have to put on the performance of a lifetime to pull it off but MAN would he be amazing in this role. Now, I believe he might be at the point of his career where he’s not ready to commit to such a long run but this would be perfect.

  • Lord Voldemort - Benedict Cumberbatch

For me, this was an easy pick. The dark wizard needs to have depth and the acting chops to go along with it. None better than this guy right here!

  • Hagrid - Ricky Gervais

Okay so this is a bit of a stretch but when thinking of talented British actors, I felt this comedian would have an incredible performance with this legendary character.

  • Sirius Black - Chiwetel Ejiofor

The show has been looking to diversify the cast in every way it can and I think this would be incredible casting. His performance in 12 Years A Slave was truly beautiful. He could tackle the complexity of the character without a doubt.

  • Bellatrix Lestrange - Keira Knightley

I think she would be an incredible choice for this crazed character. Her acting career has been slowed since the days of Pirates of the Caribbean but we know she can handle this kind of shooting schedule from that movie!

  • Molly Weasley - Rachel Weisz

An extremely talented actress (married to Daniel Craig as well) who would be perfect for this motherly-epic role!

  • Arthur Weasley - Sean Bean

This character had a lot more depth in the books and hopefully a huge casting like Sean Bean would be just the thing needed to make it happen!

  • What About The Kids??

As for the main characters of the story, Harry, Ron and Hermione, I didn’t feel like I had the expertise to cast them (not knowing very many child actors) but I feel like HelloMagazine did a great job guessing those characters.
