What Is The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition?
Over the years, this has become a huge deal for female athletes, models and celebrities to dawn the cover or be featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. The edition started all the back in 1964, that's almost sixty years of this legendary publication coming out with this special edition.

Why Martha Stewart?
She's had an incredibly successful career in so many ways. She started off in modeling (fitting, right?) and then moved to stockbroking. That's when everything changed, according to NPR.
[She joined stockbroking to] open her own catering company, where she developed her own recipes. Those would be the foundation for her first book, Entertaining, which was published in 1982. Her magazine, Martha Stewart Living, launched in 1990.

She's the oldest person to ever appear in the edition and it's not past Stewart at all. In fact, she chatted with USA Today about this great honor.
"And I don't think about age very much but I thought that this is kind of historic and that I better look really good."
