There has been a lot of speculation about if the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs were to meet in the AFC Championship game, where would it be played?

The fight for the number one seed all came down to the final week of the season with the Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs all fighting for the top spot. Ultimately, it went to the Patrick Mahomes led Chiefs however, given that the Bills weren’t given the chance to snag the top spot after the Demar Hamlin on-field injury that ultimately cancelled a game.

So, what does this all mean?

  • The Highest Seeded Team Will Host The AFC Championship... Maybe

Of the four teams in the divisional round of the playoffs on the AFC side, you’ve got the fourth-seeded Jacksonville Jaguars taking on the first-seeded Kansas City Chiefs (who got a bye in the first round). Also, the second-seeded Buffalo Bills will take on the third-seeded Cincinnati Bengals.

  • IF Chiefs Win and Bengals Win

Then the AFC Championship Game will be played in Kansas City. It’s as easy at that.

  • IF Chiefs Lost and Bills Win

Then the AFC Championship Game will be played in Buffalo. They hold the number two seed and so they will face Jacksonville in the snowy land of western New York.

  • IF Chiefs Lost and Bengals Win

Then the AFC Championship Game will be played in Cincinnati. They hold the three seed however, Jacksonville (who in this hypothetical beat the Chiefs) holds the four seed so the Bengals would host.

  • BOTH Chiefs and Bills WIN! This Is Where It Gets Fun

The AFC Championship Game between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs will be held at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium as part of the league’s agreement considering the canceled Bills-Bengals game.

  • So Who Is Home and Who Is Away?

This game would be treated as a neutral sit game but the Chiefs, they will get to pick which uniforms they want to wear (designated for a home team) and Buffalo will call the coin toss (designated for away teams).

  • What About The Stadium?

This information was gathered from Jonathon Jones’ article on CBSSports.com.

Neither team would be in the usual home locker room of the Falcons, as one will be in the visitors locker room and another in the auxiliary locker room. That is common for major non-Falcons sporting events like the SEC Championship or College Football Playoff.

  • What About The Field?

More from our guy Jonathon Jones on CBSSports.com

hough details are being ironed out, the game presentation would likely have one end zone painted in Chiefs colors and the other in Bills colors with the NFL shield (or AFC logo) at midfield. Both teams would get their own player introductions. When the Bills score a touchdown, “Shout!” would be played like it would at Highmark Stadium. When the Chiefs score a touchdown, “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)” would be played, just like at Arrowhead.

  • So Every Time The Bills Score, You'll Hear This

  • And Every Time The Chiefs Score...

  • What Are The Chances That This Happens?

The Bills are favored to beat the Bengals, -5.5 in their favor and the Chiefs are favored to win -8.5 against the Jaguars!
