Less than a week since the truck crash, explosion, fire, and collapse of Interstate 95, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro made an official announcement regarding when i95 will reopen. I think it’s safe to say no one was expecting it to be this fast. However it does make sense since it’s literally one of the most busy and traveled highways in the country. To think about the volume alone from Florida to Maine but especially from DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York and Boston. Not to mention the people of the Delaware Valley who use it for work commuting and then all the trucking and deliveries. So many people saying what used to take them an hour to commute, it’s now taking 2 hours or more. It’s important for us to not forget the truck driver, Nathan Moody, who lost his life in the accident. He was a father of 3 and many people said he was a great guy. It’s also very fortunate no one else was hurt or killed. That truly is a miracle.
President Biden was in town along with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro to give an update on the progress of Interstate 95 and the timeline of the roadway.
Let’s not forget they also put together a live feed so we can watch the 95 updates 24/7 in real time. It’s definitely a very Philadelphia thing to do.
It does do show when people all come together to work for a common good for the people it can be done quickly, safely, and efficiently.
