The Andie Summers Show

Hey everyone, Shannon here! Some of you may not already know this about me, but I am a HUGE Saturday Night Live fan. Like, really huge. I haven’t missed an episode in over 13 years. It’s actually one of the reasons I took a career in radio. I discovered SNL when I was in middle school and I became fascinated with the “live” production of the show, the thrill that anything could happen at any moment.

Since I was 16 years old, I have been entering the SNL lottery every year in hopes to win tickets. For the whole month of August, SNL opens its lottery to anxious fans. You have one chance to convince their staff that YOU deserve to be an audience member at a dress- rehearsal or live taping. That’s a lot of pressure! Obviously, my pleads haven’t worked in the past, so I’m asking The Andie Summers Show to help me out.

Here’s what I submitted last year.

Dear SNL,

Please consider me for the 2021-2022 SNL lottery. We would be incredibly pleasant SNL audience members because we are not only HUGE fans. Let me explain.

My obsession does not stop on Saturday nights. I’m also the proud owner of a pair of Kristin Wiig’s baby hands, every published SNL book, SNL décor, clothes,          and of course, how can you successfully ring in the New Year without more cowbell?

I am desperate to go to a dress rehearsal or live-taping. If I win tickets, I will not be able to contain my excitement and just like Kristin Wiig’s iconic character, Sue, I will make a Shannon-sized hole right through the wall.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my email

Thankfully, Andie, Jeff, and Donnie are helping me construct the perfect letter to Saturday Night Live.

Check out what they wrote for me!

  • Andie's Letter

I am the woman I am today thanks to the women of SNL.

From Tina Fey’s Mom Jeans, Rachel Dracht’s Debbie Downer, Laraine Newman’s Connie Conehead, Gilda Radnor’s Roseanne Rosannadanna, and Jane, you ignorant slut. The creativity these women exhibited has inspired me to think outside the box and go against the norm. I am proud to be a product of the influence of these women, even if I do get mistaken for Mary Katherine Gallagher … Superstar.

    To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Shannon and it has always been my dream to see an episode of Saturday Night Live, well, LIVE! As a child and now a young adult, I was made fun of because I would never go OUT on a Saturday night but in fact would stay IN to watch the greatest show on television.

What’s my favorite sketch of all time, why thanks for asking! It’s obviously the “David Pumpkins” with legendary actor and member of the five-timers club, Tom Hanks. The creativity in simplicity shines in this sketch so much that I went to Halloween one year AS David Pumpkins.

When it comes to recurring segments, well then of course we have to go with THE CALIFORNIANS! I may be from Philly but boy do I get a healthy laugh at west coasters.

    Now onto ME, why ME?

Lemme give you five reasons as written by my mother.

    1. She’s the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet
    2. She’s funny
    3. She talks a LOT about SNL
    4. I mean like A LOT like it’s honestly too much sometimes
    5. Like if you sent her then she would stop pestering me for being a “bad mom” because I never found a way to send her earlier

    Okay mom, thanks.

    So please, SNL send me!!

Dear Mr. Lorne Michaels… If that’s even your real name.

My name is Shannon Boyle and I am the biggest fan of Saturday Night Live.

One of my hobbies is cross-stitching so I would even go above and beyond and cross-stitch a big blanket for the whole cast just in case they get cold.

I would walk 500 miles and I will walk 500 more. Heck, I would even run the same exact route that Forrest Gump ran in the movie.

    Thanks,
    Shannon!
