Amber Heard Hires Philly Law Firm to Appeal Johnny Depp Case!
Amber Heard speaks outside the Royal Courts of Justice, the Strand on July 28, 2020 in London, England. The Hollywood actor is suing News Group Newspapers (NGN) and the Sun's executive editor, Dan Wootton, over an article published in 2018 that referred to him as a "wife beater" during his marriage to actor Amber Heard. Johnny Depp steps outside court during his civil trial at Fairfax County Circuit Court on April 25, 2022 in Fairfax, Virginia. Depp is seeking $50 million in alleged damages to his career over an op-ed Heard wrote in the Washington Post in 2018.
This is seriously like the case that never ends. I have to admit I wasn’t really into this drama as most people, but I sure do love when Philly is involved in any National news!
Here are the details from PhillyVoice:
In June, after six-week trial in Virginia, a civil jury awarded Depp $10.4 million in compensatory and punitive damages. Heard also was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages on one of her counterclaims.
Now Amber is gong to appeal the verdict and will feature a new legal team led by a pair of Philadelphia attorneys.
David L. Axelrod and Jay Ward Brown, of Ballard Spahr, are joining Heard’s previous co-counsel Ben Rottenborn in the appeal to have the judgment against her rescinded. Ballard Spahr is headquartered on Market Street in Center City, so be on the lookout for Amber.
