A Doctor In Mummers Costume Saves Life During Eagles Game
This story is scary but incredible. The big news in the world is the scary incident that happened during the Cincinnati Bengals – Buffalo Bills game where Bills safety Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest during the game. That news has dominated headlines but there was a similar local story that happened at this past Sunday’s Philadelphia Eagles – New Orleans Saints game.
A fan in the stands suddenly fell and stopped breathing. A nurse nearby in full Eagles gear rushed to help along with a man dressed in a full mummers costume. Remember, it was New Year’s Day and the Mummers Parade was earlier that morning. The man in full mummers garb named Vincent Basile happened to be a doctor at Einstein Medical Center and started performing CPR along with the nurse on the man. The man regained consciousness and the first words out his mouth were the “Most Philly thing that Vincent has ever heard.” The man asked what the score of the game was. Unfortunately, the Birds were losing but the man was very fortunate that the mummer doctor was there to save the day. The man is in the hospital and is expected to be OK.
