Brandywine Valley Mega Adoption Event 2024 Features Over 1,000 Adoptable Pets
Have you been considering a new best friend? Is there space in your home (and heart) for just one more? The best place to find your new love is at the Brandywine Valley SPCA’s Mega Adoption Event 2024. The largest adoption event in the country, and it’s right here in Newark, Delaware, and happening soon too!
The event boasts more than 1,000 adoptable pets available for just a $35 adoption fee. Pets are always priceless, but this is pretty amazing. The $35 fee covers your new pal’s adoption fee, and all animals at the event will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and have current vaccinations.
The Brandywine Valley SPCA was founded in 1929 and is the first open-admission no-kill shelter in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Just last year alone, the BVSPCA cared for more than 17,000 lost, stray, owner-surrendered, and abused and neglected animals. More than 17,000… while achieving a 93% live release rate.
Mega Adoption Event 2024
This is the Brandywine Valley SPCA’s 16th Mega Adoption Event since December 2016. In that 8-year timespan these events have found homes for nearly 16,000 pets. It’s truly lifesaving, and you can help! The 2-day event requires many volunteers to help walk and care for all of these animals over the weekend, and even more, lots of people willing to open up their homes to a new family member.
Where is the Mega Adoption Event 2024?
Held at the Bob Carpenter Center at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware.
When?
June 15th and 16th from 10am to 5pm
What?
More than 1,000 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens from BVSPCA and participating partner organizations will be available for just $35 in adoption fees throughout the event.
1,000+ Adoptable Animals. How?!?
The Brandywine Valley SPCA is able to do this important lifesaving work through partnerships with non-profits Petco Love and Bobs from Skechers and numerous other animal organizations and shelters.
Adam Lamb, BVSPCA CEO says, “Through our Megas, we also strive to help other shelters tap into the adoption community in this region, particularly shelters in areas of the country where there are more pets who need homes than adopters.”
Some of the other participating organizations and shelters include ACCT Philly (PA), Animal Adoption Center (AAC) (NJ), Animal Care Shelter for Kent County (MD), Animal Rescue League of Berks County (PA), Crossing Paths Animal Rescue (AL), Currituck County Animal Services (NC), Faithful Friends Animal Society (DE), Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center (NJ), Humane Society of Harrisburg Area (PA), and Montgomery County Animal Shelter (TX).
Not messing around? Get A Fast Pass
If you’re interested in a sort of literal ‘pick of the litter’, a limited number of early access Fast Passes will be available for purchase. Fast Passes give potential adopters access at 8:30 a.m., more than an hour ahead of general admission.
What To Bring?
Adopters should bring a leash and collar for a dog adoption (also available for purchase), a carrier for a cat (cardboard carriers generously donated by Petco Love will be available), a valid ID, and the adoption fee.
Volunteer!
Community volunteers are needed from set up to tear down, and through the duration of the event in a number of roles. Families, friends, individuals, community, and corporate groups are encouraged to register as Mega® volunteers. It’s rewarding and fun, and so incredible to watch all of the crates empty as each animal one by one leaves the event for their new forever home.
