Meet the Philadelphia Phillies Pole Climber Who Shotgunned Multiple Beers

Things got pretty wild last Sunday (Oct. 23) when the Phillies officially made it into the world series. There was plenty of pole climbing in the streets of Philadelphia.

Sean Hagan was one of those pole climbers. He says that he simply got overwhelmed with excitement when his team made the World Series and spontaneously decided to run out to Broad Street. He climbed up a light pole and stayed there for an hour, if not more. He caught beers from the crowd and shotgunned them, too.

Speaking in a new interview with The Inquirer, Hagan says the feeling was “unreal.” He added, “Honestly, it was like the closest I’ll ever feel to being like Stone Cold Steve Austin. If I could imagine what Stone Cold Steve Austin feels like when he has two beers in his hand chugging them in front of a crowd, that’s what I felt like.”

Hagan’s fun ended when he got into some trouble with the law, though. Police arrested the 29-year-old and charged him with criminal mischief, rioting, conspiracy, failure to disperse, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Those are some pretty serious offenses. According to PhillyMag.com, he has been released on a $100,000 bail. A judge set a preliminary hearing for Nov. 15. Watch video of his pole climbing below.
