Around the world in 80 days sounds great, but could you do it at 80 years old?
Sandy Hazelip and Ellie Hamby met decades ago in Zambia.
Really?
Yep.
The story was covered on CBS This Morning and it goes something like this … Sandy Hazelip is better known as Dr. Hazelip. She’s a doctor who was working abroad when she met documentary photographer Ellie Hamby and the two became friends. Over the years, the two bounced around the world doing work here and there when they decided to visit all seven continents and all seven wonders of the world together.
Now, the two are 80, and to celebrate they took off on a trip around the world in 80 days.
Sound familiar?
What an inspiration these vibrant octogenarians are! One of my favorite things about the video below is when Dr. Hazelip said:
“We don’t travel first class. And so when we have other ladies, especially who say, ‘Oh, I would love to travel with you two,’ the first thing I always do is look at their hands. If they are well-manicured, they do not want to travel with us.”
Amazing.
