No Doubt, A Great Cup o’ Joy Story!
His foster parents, Ash and Jen Dobtini, say the incident left Toby devastated and crying for hours. They helped him write a letter to the police after convincing him not to call 999 (the UK’s version of 911). In the letter, Toby asks the police to catch the “bad man” and “tell him off” for breaking his toy car.
Here’s how the adorable letter started!
Dear Police, my mummy is writing this because I don’t know how to write yet and my mummy said your phone people would’t like it.
The family was surprised when they received a response from Sergeant Sophie Williams of the Dorset Police, who expressed her sympathy and reassured Toby that the police are there to help. She also bought him a new toy car. Ash Dobtini says the gesture has helped change Toby’s perception of the police from fear to trust. He also says that Toby is “very happy” with his new car, which he carries in his pocket for safekeeping.
This little boy’s letter even got a response! How sweet?
