I think you will be pleasantly surprised as to where the Phillies rank in MLB attendance this season. It was a big year for the Phillies, just coming from a National League Championship and a heroic playoff run, the hype was real surrounding this team.
Plus the addition of a HUGE free agent signing, shortstop Trea Turner. This was set to be a huge year for the Phillies and the fans were in attendance VERY excited for it. But did the fans actually show up to the ballpark?
According to Statista.com, there was an increase of 2.5 million fans from the 2022 to the 2023 season which is a pretty big increase (from 62 to 64 million). But did fans respond to it here in Philadelphia? We will find out.
Phillies Heading Back To The Playoffs
For the second straight year, Philadelphia is back in the playoffs. Last year, we just barely squeaked by with the sixth, narrowly making it into the playoffs. This year, we clinched our spot with six games to go and we will occupy the 4th seed (the top Wild Card seed) and face the 5th seed in the Wild Card round (which seems like it will be the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Phillies MLB Attendance Ranking
Every year, MLB updates the attendance rankings in order to track how teams are performing. Sitting at the bottom? You guessed it! Oakland Athletics averaged just 10,275 fans. In first? Well, you are going to have to scroll to find out where the Phillies rank in the top ten and who landed on the number!

15) Texas Rangers

This team will win the AL West this season and make the playoffs in a tough division with the surging Mariners and the World Series defending champion Astros! Their average attendance this season was 31,272.
14) Colorado Rockies

This is a really fun ballpark and I highly recommend going to see a game there cause they are a lot of fun! 31,884 fan average for the season, not bad!
13) Los Angeles Angels

They are far away from their Los Angeles counterparts (the Dodgers) who you will see later. They brought in a 32,693 fan average this season after a sad disappointing end of the season.
12) Seattle Mariners

This team has had a very exciting season. They made it to the playoffs last year and fighting for a spot this year. Their fans are loud and passionate and brought in 32,775 fans this season!
11) New York Mets

A lot of high hopes for this team this season that just didn’t pan out. In fact, they were sellers at the deadline and traded a whole bunch of their team but fans did show for the year with a 32,801 fan average!
10) Boston Red Sox

Fenway Park is legendary. With only a capacity of 37,755, for it to be number ten on this list is very impressive. They averaged 32,989 fans during the 2023 season. This will be the first year since 1993 that neither the Yankees nor the Red Sox will be in the playoffs.
9) Chicago Cubs

Another legendary ballpark. It seemed like all hope was lost for the Cubs until the second half of the season really picked up! They are very much in the race to make the playoffs and they averaged 34,261 fans this year.
8) Toronto Blue Jays

They are in the playoffs this season and they have an entire country’s support behind them. they finished with 37,119.
7) Houston Astros

Looks like the Phillies came up on top of the Astros (w00)! They finished with 37,683 average fans per game at their ballpark this season.
6) Philadelphia Phillies

We land in the sixth spot! Go Phillies. Another big playoff run this season! 38,157 is our average per game this year. Man, I feel like the fans have been PACKING the Bank this year.
5) Atlanta Braves

The National East Division Winners take the five spot on this list. They will occupy the number one seed for the playoffs for the National League this year but I know they are afraid of playing the Phillies. They took in 39,329 fans per game this season.
4) St. Louis Cardinals

One of the most beautiful ballparks in my humble opinion brought 39,969 fans this season. Good on them! If you have a chance to see the Phillies play there, I highly recommend it.
3) San Diego Padres

Cannot wait for these fans to realize that despite a great showing, they won’t make it this year. 40,383 on the season average but they just missed out this year. Sorry Padres fans! Next year maybe!
2) New York Yankees

The Yankees didn’t make the playoffs yet they are number two on this list. with 40,862 fans per game. Good for them but they still will only play one game in October, HA!
