New Study Finds Any Amount of Alcohol Consumption is Harmful to the Brain
Scientists in the U.K. are being a total buzzkill with their latest study which shows there’s no safe amount of alcohol consumption that won’t affect your brain.
The study from the University of Oxford found that even drinking in moderation negatively affects every part of your brain.
Anya Topiwala, a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Oxford, told The Guardian, “There’s no threshold drinking for harm – any alcohol is worse. Pretty much the whole brain seems to be affected – not just specific areas, as previously thought.”
The Guardian noted further, “Contrary to previous research that suggested there is a benefit to drinking wine in moderation compared with beer or spirits, the study found no evidence to suggest alcoholic beverage type conferred differences in risks to the brain.”
This new Oxford study is still in the middle of being peer-reviewed, so here’s hoping some scientists have different research with better findings.
