After 150 Amazon Packages Mistakenly Arrive at a Woman’s Home, She Then Donates to Local Hospitals
A woman from New York is giving back to her community after 150 Amazon packages mistakenly showed up at her house.
Jillian Cannon started receiving the packages on June 5th she explained to CNN.
“I thought my business partner had ordered something for our studio that we were waiting for on backorder,” Cannon said. “So I opened them up to condense the boxes and I realized they were mask brackets.”
She sent a picture to her business partner asking why she ordered so much off of Amazon. She quickly found out that her partner in fact did not order anything.
“So I go back out and I check the boxes and it’s my address, but not my name,” Cannon said.
She called Amazon to try to return the packages but was told to keep them and put a ticket in for the error.
However, this did not stop the copious amount of boxes from showing up to her house. “Then they started coming by freight trucks on pallets in our driveway,” Cannon said.
Once again she called Amazon to try to get to the bottom of it. They finally figured out that the boxes were filled with mask brackets. They were also able to track down who they were intended to be shipped to.
Cannon and her business partner wanted to put the mask brackets to good use. They decided to create DIY mask kits for patients at local children’s hospitals with them.
They asked Amazon to donate the rest of the supplies and they agreed. Cannon and her business partner are getting ready to donate the masks and are in touch with multiple local hospitals.
It’s kind of taken on this own little life of its own and it’s really cool that people want to be able to give back and do something,” Cannon said. “With everything going on right now, it’s just crazy how it all kind of happened.”
