A very popular holiday spectacular is relocating from Pennsylvania suburbs to South Philadelphia. Tinseltown Holiday Spectacular is relocating from the PA suburbs to the South Philly for the upcoming holiday season. It first opened in 2021 and has been held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center fairgrounds in Oaks, Montgomery County. It's obviously very family-friendly with lots of holiday activities such as an outdoor market and light installation. It was a big deal last year when they added an ice skating ring and ice slide! Even Gritty showed up to make a splash.
“The City of Philadelphia is thrilled to welcome Tinseltown to the City, and in doing so spread the magic of the holiday season down Broad Street to FDR Park,” City Representative Sheila Hess said in a release. The new Tinseltown will feature festive food and drinks, holiday vendors, visits from Santa Claus and light sculptures powered by more than 1 million light bulbs. Some of the twinkling displays include a 60-foot-long light tunnel, Santa's sleigh, the Liberty Bell and sculptures paying homage to Philly sports teams. Which makes sense since FDR Park is literally next to Novacare complex as well as all the sports arenas. FDR park has been making noise recently when they just announced a massive renovation and will now be home to the biggest swing set in America!
The popular holiday spectacular relocating from Pennsylvania suburbs to South Philadelphia will definitely draw some unhappy customers now that they have to sit in traffic on 76. Can't say we blame them. Maybe they an offer helicopter rides to and from. See below for opening dates and ticket info. It's kind of perfect they announced it during Christmas in July. Gives us something to look forward to during this heat wave!

Hallmark Channel is Apparently Filming a Christmas Movie at the Jersey Shore
WOW what a dream! Let me add that there has been rumors for a while that Hallmark is filming a movie, but this looks pretty legit. The Mayor of Longport spoke at length about what has been going on regarding the filming.
The crazy part is that a friend of mine, Anjelica, actually wrote a post on her Instagram on 12/20/20 with basically the concept of the movie! (See her post below). She was shocked they were at the record store in Ocean City.
I don't hide my love of Hallmark movies. I watch basically all of them. What's strange is that I love Hallmark movies and I love Christmas, but the Hallmark Christmas movies are not my favorite. I like the ones that are from the other seasons. My favorite Hallmark movie of all time is one from winter, but I do enjoy some of the fall and spring movies too. Now don't get me wrong, I will watch the majority of the Christmas movies and some really are good, in fact I listed a few of my favorites below if you're looking for some to watch.
It's always fun when a movie or television show is filmed in and around Philly. We are fortunate for M Night Shyamalan who filmed the majority of his projects in and around Philadelphia. Let's not forget the Adam Sandler Netflix movie "Hustle" that came out last year. It was such a good movie, definitely watch if you haven't. It showed the heart and love of Philly and it's sports teams so well.
And now it looks like we are getting a romantic Christmas movie in Ocean City. See the details below for all the info regarding where and when it's filming, production company, potential release dates, and how to be an extra. How exciting!
Did They Get the Movie Inspo from My Friend's Instagram Post in 2020?

The Mayor of Longport Gave Lots of Details
According to Mayor Nicholas Russo there was a lot of activity over the weekend at a home at the corner of Colgate and Ventnor avenues. The Christmas Movie was shooting at a house in Longport.
Russo said borough officials were aware of the filming, but a permit was not required.
The movie, “So Fly Christmas,” is a romantic comedy being produced by Worldwide Entertainment and Media. It’s “production office” is currently listed at Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City.
They Filmed at the Record Store in Ocean City
Looks Like They Filmed in Downtown Ocean City Too
In the Public Ocean City Facebook page, Jeff Swanson said the production would move to Ocean City on Tuesday.
“Christmas decorations are being put up along 10th and Asbury. I spoke with one woman in the area, and they will be looking for extras tomorrow at 10 a.m. Extras will be compensated for their time,” the post stated.
Another resident MaryBeth Robertson-Quinlan had a TON of pictures!
