As prices for various goods continue to rise, and with the importance of access to fresh and healthy foods for households in mind, Uber has been actively working on improving their user shopping experience. They have announced upcoming updates to the Uber Eats app, which are expected to debut later this year or in 2024. These updates are designed to make getting a wide range of items easier and more efficient without straining your budget. One change is that Uber Eats will now accept SNAP/EBT payments for food deliveries.
Uber is helping to improve access to quality food.
“We know that online food delivery can have a meaningful impact in reducing barriers to fresh groceries, especially for the most vulnerable–including people living in food deserts, seniors, and those facing disabilities or transportation barriers,” the company announced. “Helping to improve access to quality food is incredibly important to our work at Uber and we’re proud to use Uber’s technology and extensive local delivery networks to offer SNAP recipients the ability to use their benefits to access fresh groceries conveniently from our app in 2024.”
The company is also collaborating with governmental bodies to facilitate healthcare payment benefits. They are partnering with Managed Medicaid and Medicare Advantage plans to offer support for benefits to enhance members’ well-being, including accepting FSA Cards, Flex Cards, and relevant waiver payments through Uber.
More Uber Eats features to come.
Uber Eats has introduced a Sales Aisle feature as well, which helps users identify discounted grocery items to manage their expenses more effectively. The Sales Aisle consolidates promotions and special deals into a user-friendly section, making it easier for customers to find cost-saving opportunities within the app.
Additionally, the app is set to introduce a new AI-powered conversational shopping experience. In the near future, users will have the opportunity to engage with an AI assistant to explore new dishes and cuisines, discover discounts at popular restaurants, and easily reorder their favorite meals to save both time and money. Furthermore, the AI assistant will soon simplify meal planning, help users find grocery item discounts, and facilitate the quick ordering of ingredients for beloved recipes while adhering to a budget.
