4x4x48 Challenge Is No Joke, Benefitting Landon Vargas Foundation
The 4x4x48 is quite a difficult task but there are some brave people out there doing it for an incredible cause. Here are some great details about it we shared on The Andie Summers Show.
Let’s take a moment to introduce the two guys behind it all—John Trainor and Mike Moser. Both grew up in Montgomery County, right outside of Philadelphia. John graduated from Archbishop Carroll High School, while Mike is a Spring-Ford High School alum—both from the Class of 2000. Their friendship started at Albright College, and they’ve been inseparable ever since! In fact, they still live less than a mile apart today—John in Worcester and Mike in Eagleville.
David Goggins 4x4x48 Challenge!
They are beyond excited to share that they will be taking on the David Goggins 4x4x48 Challenge again this year— fifth year in a row! This challenge is extra special because, with the community’s support, this will mark 240 miles run for the Landon Vargas Foundation.
Why Do They Run?
The Landon Vargas Foundation was created to honor the memory of Landon, a brave young boy who fought pediatric cancer with incredible courage. We both had the privilege of knowing the Vargas family for years—the Trainor and Vargas children grew up together, sharing classrooms, teams, and friendships. And Mike coached both of their boys on the football field at Visitation. Their foundation does something truly special: bringing joy, support, and hope to families navigating the unimaginable challenges of
pediatric cancer.
From Mike and John- In 2020, we witnessed their impact firsthand when two close friends had young children diagnosed with brain cancer. The Vargas family immediately stepped in, delivering “Miles of Smiles” care packages and organizing unforgettable experiences for those children and their families. Their kindness and determination inspired us to take action.
The Challenge & Our Mission:
In 2021, during the pandemic, John decided to take on the Goggins Challenge in Landon’s honor, using it as a way to support the foundation. In 2021 Mike accompanied John along a grueling 16-20 miles and in year 2,3 and 4- Mike joined in for the full 48. Thanks to an incredible community we are lucky to be apart of, we raised:
💙 $10,000 in Year 1
💙 $15,000 in Year 2
💙 $20,000 in Year 3
💙 $25,000 last year
This year, we’re aiming even higher: $30,000! That would bring our total to an unbelievable $100,000 raised for LVF—but we can’t do it without you. This year, our team is dedicated to raising to assist The Landon Vargas Foundation in their mission to provide support and resources to families
impacted by pediatric cancer. A portion of your donations will be used to aid in the ongoing support of a local family(s) battling pediatric cancer. We’ll also be utilizing donations to further the foundation’s work in providing Gaming Therapy to pediatric patients in conjunction with La Salle College High School’s Esports Program and Nemours Children’s Hospital. Through your support, the foundation will be able to purchase gaming bags for new patients and expand the program to additional hospitals. The ultimate goal and dream for the foundation is to have their own gaming truck to travel to each hospital. We hope one day we see this come to fruition.
