As Philadelphia Phillies fans, you are going to absolutely eat this up. During the New York Mets game against the Tampa Bay Rays, the scoreboard at Citi Field had a serious malfunction.
I’m not saying somebody needs to get fired for this but it sure isn’t a good look, that’s for sure. But it was fun to talk about on 92.5 XTU.
Long Standing Rivalry
There’s no doubt that the Phillies and the Mets have a long standing rivalry. For starters, they both play in the National League East Division. Also, their stadiums are just 116 miles apart. Plus, they’ve played some pretty epic games against each other.
So What Happened At The New York Mets Game?
They weren’t playing the Philadelphia Phillies so it’s a little less satisfying. They were playing Tampa Bay Rays who have had a very hot start to the season! The Mets (as of Wednesday, May 17th) have lost seven of the last ten games and two straight.
So it’s safe to say that when this happened, an already frustrated New York Mets’ fanbase got even angrier. And, speaking from experience, it isn’t fun to cross an angry New Yorker.
The Mets were losing to the Rays at the time of the incident, 7-1. That just adds insult to injury.
