Thomas Rhett’s Father Will Open for Him This Summer
On Friday (5/17), Thomas Rhett will kick off his “Very Hot Summer Tour” with special guests Dustin Lynch, Russell Dickerson and his dad, Rhett Akins.
Thomas, who toured with his dad in the 1990’s when he was just a kid, says, “I’m just glad to have him out there. I think there’s a lot of people that are gonna come to the concert to see my dad, like a bunch of people that loved him in the 90s. They’re gonna get to come to the show to get to watch some of the 90s influence and get to, honestly, to be blown away by how many hits he’s written in this genre.”
As for the tour vibe, Rhett thinks things will be a bit wild, “Going from [my dad] to Russell Dickerson is going to be such a wild turn of events. And then to Dustin Lynch, and then to us. But I think it’s going to be a pretty well-rounded tour and I think people are going to walk away with a lot of different kind of vibes from the show.”
Yesterday, Mother’s Day was on Rhett’s mind; he posted a family photo to Instagram. He wrote, “Happy Mother’s Day to my beautiful wife honey, there isn’t enough space on this page to describe what you mean to me, Ada and Willa Gray. So let’s just start by saying you are super woman. you are the most beautiful human inside and out. You make me a better person and dad every single day. I hope that you can find some peace and relaxation today I love you so much.”
