‘Stars Wars’: Watch The Latest Footage – ‘They Fly Now?’
With a month to go before the next Star Wars film, The Rise Of Skywalker, the franchise was doing a full-court press over the weekend.
A new 30-second trailer called “Fate” was released on Saturday, showing scenes from the upcoming film. In it, C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) says, darkly: “If this mission fails, it was all for nothing.”
But in another scene, Poe Dameron (Oscar Issac) says, “We are not alone! Good people will fight if we lead them!”
Last night, during the American Music Awards, Star Wars released another video: “Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker – A Special Look.” It’s a montage of how the franchise has affected pop culture over the past four decades and also shows Rise Of Skywalker director JJ Abrams discussing how he was first turned on to Star Wars. It also includes footage of Presidents Obama and Reagan referencing the series, and scenes from Blackish, Toy Story, The Simpsons and South Park doing Star Wars themed scenes.
And earlier this morning, they released a new clip from the film. It expands upon a scene from the aforementioned “Fate” clip, where a stormtrooper is catapulted from a landspeeder and is revealed to have a jet pack. An alarmed C-3PO exclaims, “They fly now?” John Boyega’s Finn echoes him: “They fly now?” And Poe Dameron concludes, “They fly now!”
Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker opens in theaters December 20.
