Little Big Town’s ‘The Daughters’ Comes To The Grammys ‘World Stage’
Little Big Town’s “The Daughters” is nominated at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (1/26) for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
Phillip Sweet said, “It was a sweet victory for that song and that message being recognized and not only just by the Grammys, but the world stage. It’s such a beautiful message about those double standards we still seem to be putting on the daughters. And hopefully this message just keeps reminding us that, you know, we need to shake that often for the next generation, that they won’t have to have this tired conversation anymore.”
Karen Fairchild adds, “You know, equal play, equal pay. That’s why that was proposed in kind of a question or a commentary on society. And yeah, it’s incredible that the song is taking us to the Grammys. I mean, I could have only hoped that when we wrote it. But it’s nice just to see feedback from people. And even in the shows, you just see girls. They just they feel so understood when that song comes up and that’s the whole intention of it.”
The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards will air live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center Sunday (1/26) on CBS.
