Kacey Musgraves Will Honor Loretta Lynn at The Grammys
Kacey Musgraves will perform in tribute to the late Loretta Lynn on Sunday night’s (2/5) Grammy Awards. She’ll sing Lynn’s signature song, “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” during the “In Memoriam” segment. In addition to Kacey’s performance, Sheryl Crow, Mick Fleetwood, and Bonnie Raitt will honor Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac. The Grammy Awards will air live on Sunday beginning at 8 pm ET/7 pm CT on CBS.
With a few images of Kacey holding what looks like Loretta Lynn’s actual guitar and strumming in a private plane, Kacey wrote on Twitter, “See y’all on the Grammys…”
Many fans reacted to the post, including one who wrote, “Can’t wait to cry of excitement to see you on TV again and in celebration of Loretta’s life and legacy!” Another commented, “Got a feeling Loretta will be right there with ya. I knew there was bound to be a tribute, so put a good word into the Universe.” One more fan said, “Happy and sad. Going to be a beautiful tribute.”

Lynn is holding the guitar on many of her album covers, including 2005’s GRAMMY-winning album Van Lear Rose. She is seen in photos as early as the 1960s holding that very guitar.
Loretta passed away in October 2022 at age 90. Lynn was laid to rest at her family cemetery on her ranch grounds in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, on Friday (10/7). Close to 100 guests were in attendance for a private graveside burial service. A public memorial was held and aired live on CMT and featured a huge lineup of country music superstars, including Keith Urban, George Strait, Tim McGraw, Faill Hill, Alan Jackson, Darius Rucker, and many more. They paid tribute in song or just words of love and stories about the country music icon. Every audience member was given a beautiful program with their handwritten words to “Coal Miner’s Daughter” on the back and a fan with Lynn’s photo as they entered the Opry House.
