Sam Hunt Releases New Song About Lost Love, ‘Walmart’
Sam Hunt released a new song today called “Walmart.” Hunt and co-writers Zach Crowell, Shane McAnally, and Josh Osborne write about how life has a way of working out. Sam transports the listener to a small-town run-in with an ex’s mother.
The song’s chorus includes the lyrics, “I saw your mama at Walmart with your little girl / She had your eyes and your smile, she had your nose and your lips / Somewhere in our little small-town, small talk girl / Lost in the grocery aisle, holding a bag of some chips / I realize that everything happens for a reason / Losing your love ain’t the end of the world / I saw your mama at Walmart with your little girl / Your little girl, your little girl.”
He posted to Instagram, “I know I don’t put out as much music as often as a lot of the artists y’all listen to, but I really appreciate you guys tuning in when I do. Walmart is out now. Thanks for listening!”

In November, Hunt shared childhood home movies in a music video for “Start Nowhere.” The video starts out with a home video shot in Cedartown, Georgia, where a young Sam Hunt coaxes his brother Van to ride a goat. Sam said, “When you grow up in a small town, you love where you’re from. And you answer the call of adventure when you turn 18 and take off out into the big wide world. If you stay gone too long without coming home, you can get a little disconnected. Sometimes the only way to get your feet back on the ground is to go back home where you grew up.”
