Darius Rucker Will Get A Nashville Music City Star
Darius Rucker will be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame sometime in 2024, but before that, he will get a star on the Music City Walk of Fame in Nashville. The Music City Walk of Fame has announced four new inductees: Don McLean of “American Pie” fame; Darius; rock and roll guitarist Duane Eddy; and former record-label executive Joe Galante. The induction ceremony will occur on Wednesday, October 4, at 11 a.m. at Music City Walk of Fame Park.
The induction ceremony will bestow the 101st, 102nd, 103rd, and 104th stars on the Music City Walk of Fame. Inductees are recognized for their significant work of preserving Nashville’s musical heritage and contributing to the world through song.
Professional wrestler Ric Flair will be in attendance to induct Rucker. Connie Valens, the sister of the late Ritchie Valens, whose death was immortalized in “American Pie,” will present McLean. GRAMMY Award-winner and Music City Walk of Fame member Steve Wariner will induct Eddy. Vince Gill, 22-time Grammy Award winner and member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Music City Walk of Fame, will induct Galante.

Rucker posted the news to his Instagram, writing, “Well, this is awesome!! Honored to join the amazing names on the Music City Walk of Fame. If you are in Nashville on October 4, come check it out. I mean… @ricflairnatureboy will be there!! More info at the link in bio.”
Many fans reacted to his post. One fan wrote, “I love your music, but I must say that “What God wants for Christmas” is my favorite.” Another fan commented, “Incredibly well-deserved brother @dariusrucker, and congratulations.” One more fan said, “Congratulations, fellow South Carolinian!!!”
Earlier this week, Darius unveiled the official music video for his current single, “Fires Don’t Start Themselves.”
Rucker plays a cop in the song’s video, in which he is investigating a fire. In the steamy video, Darius holds up a partially burned vinyl album of Conway Twitty as he name-checks the country icon in the song’s chorus. “So, let’s drink what’s left of this bottle of wine / Move a little closer ’til the sparks start flyin’ / Turn the lights down low and pull the Conway off of the shelf / Then we’ll dance through the kitchen and straight down the hall / Let my old blue jeans and your sundress fall / Girl, we’re holding the lighter and fires don’t start themselves.”

He was quite happy over the weekend (1/16) when his beloved Dallas Cowboys beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to advance in the playoffs. He was so pleased he posted a video on his socials from a trip to Hawaii to cheer his team on.

Darius Rucker is definitely country music’s most passionate NFL football fan. He famously said that he has two seasons, “football season and waiting for football season.” A lifelong Miami Dolphins fan, he often sings that National Anthem at their games and did so this past September 2021 when the Dolphins played the Buffalo Bills. When he fronted Hootie and The Blowfish, he wrote the band’s biggest song, “I Only Want To Be With You,” in college when he was so upset that his Dolphins were losing, he started to cry, and his mother called him a baby. Rucker also has his own line of NFL wear.
