It’s According to Andie 9/11 Edition
- It’s the 22nd anniversary of 9/11 and New York City officials have identified two victims from the terror attacks in 2001. New York City Mayor Eric Adams and the city’s Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Jason Graham, say the man and woman are the 1,648th and 1,649th persons to be identified. They are the first new ID’s since 2021. Their names are withheld at the request of their families. Officials say the two were identified using advanced DNA testing of remains recovered from the attack. 2,753 people died that day and some 40-percent of those who died remain unidentified. Mayor Adams hopes it brings a measure of comfort to the families of the victims, and is an example of the city’s unwavering commitment to reunite all the World Trade Center victims with their loved one.
- A couple Navy SEALs are making an impact and giving you a chance to make a difference this 9/11 by helping to clean up VA cemeteries across the country. Registration is required. Find the info HERE.
- The Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T) won’t let 9/11 go by without honoring those who risked and gave their lives. This year the foundation donated 22 mortgage-free homes to American heroes. Get more information on the foundation and who benefitted HERE.
- Tired of that green statue in New York City? There’s a movement to return it to its original golden copper color. The statue turned green from oxidation in the first few decades after it was put up, and has stayed that way ever since. The movement wants to clean the statue and return it to its original color, but don’t expect the idea to gain traction. After all, it’s been suggested before and the public strongly protested the idea. Of course, even if it were cleaned, it would return to the current green color in a few years, so it might not be worth it.
