Donnie And His Wife Buy Their First House
Yes, we finally took the leap and bought our first home. We have been together since October 26, 2013 when I asked Michelle to be my girlfriend. That has to be the most awkward thing to do ever. Asking a girl to be your girlfriend is really weird and makes me feel like I am back in 8th grade. Anywho, she said yes so we started dating.
She was living with her 2 friends Jen and Charlie at the time in a townhouse in our hometown of Ewing. I’ve known Jen and Charlie for quite some time separately from Michelle and also was friends with both of their boyfriends. We all spent a lot of time in that townhouse together as couples but we were all moving along in our relationships so we had to go our separate ways.
Michelle and I moved into our first apartment together in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania. I had one of my best friends living in the same apartment complex with his girlfriend at the time so it wasn’t hard to leave our hometown. We stayed in that first apartment for a year and a half before we had issues with our upstairs neighbors. Long story, but they fought all the time and the cops were there often. We moved over to a new building in the same complex and stayed there until November of 2021. We got engaged and married during the time we stayed in that second apartment. My buddy who lived there with his girlfriend at the time had gotten married and moved to Florida so my wife and I were pretty lonely. Every weekend, we drove only 25 minutes but it felt like an hour, back to our hometown to hang with friends and family. We were getting tired of driving back and forth so we moved back to our hometown.
We knew we wanted to buy a house but we didn’t really have the time so we rented a really nice apartment in our hometown. We have been there about 2 years and we both decided it was time to make the leap.
I wish we did this sooner because of housing costs and the interest rates but oh well, we didn’t. Well, we searched for a house and found out the prices and ridiculous for what you get. We decided on going with a townhouse and we looked at a ton before we stumbled upon one in a neighboring town of Lawrence, NJ. One of my co-workers lives on the same street and my best friend and his wife live the next street over.
Yesterday we got a call from our realtor saying that we got the house. Finally!
