Luke Bryan: Katy Perry Is The ‘Life of the Party’

Luke Bryan will be back on American Idol with his co-judges and friends Katy Perry and Lionel Richie when it premieres on February 18 on ABC.

Luke told me in an interview what he has learned from his famous fellow judges. He said of Katy, “When you meet someone like Katy, and you look, and she’s got 200 million Instagram followers, and she is literally a global icon that has to deal with global icon things.”

He adds, “The world of country music is obviously always getting bigger and more globally accepted, and it’s been amazing, but when you get around someone like Katy and even Lionel too… they’ve taught me how to be humble and be global superstars.”

Bryan concluded of his friend, “All the negativity I get through the years and the positivity and all that, and Katy’s is so multiplied by a million just because of being a female pop star on a global stage and the fact that she’s gotten through this business with a great heart. She’s fun to be around, more energetic, and the life of the party. She’s a great person.”

Bryan posted a video clip on his Instagram and America’s Idol Instagram of him returning to his hometown of Leesburg, Georgia, and what he loves most about where he comes from.

He captioned the video post of himself, Katy, and Lionel all back in Leesburg as he shows them around, “We are 3 weeks away from the season premiere of #IDOL. There is so much to love about Leesburg, Georgia. I’m here to tell you what some of my favorite things are about my hometown!”

Many fans reacted to his post, including one who wrote, “Kind Heart Luke.” Another fan said, “Absolutely 1oo percent! Do what you love, and it never feels like work.” One more fan commented, “One of my favorite concerts was the benefit you did for tornado victims here back in ’17. You are a staple to the community, Luke!”

American Idol premieres on ABC on February 18th.

Nancy Brooks has been working in the country music industry for almost 30 years. She has interviewed pretty much any country star you can think of. In the late 1990s, she started working with Dolly Parton. And yes, Nancy reports that Parton is as sweet as you would think. She loves her life in country music and has been backstage at every CMA Awards show since the late 1990s. Many of her stories are from her one-on-one interviews. She was there at the beginning of the incredible careers of many music superstars today, including Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Blake Shelton, and has interviewed them multiple times throughout the years.
