Shania Twain On People’s Choice Honor: ‘Last Night Was A Dream’
Shania Twain was honored at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards last night (12/6) as a music icon, and she sang a medley of her hits as well as part of her new song “Waking Up Dreaming.”
Shania posted her acceptance speech on her Instagram today (12/7), writing along with the video clip, “Wow… was last night a dream @peopleschoice?? (hug emoji) Thank you for calling me an icon!! I have to confess… accepting this straight after running around three different stages performing my hits wasn’t easy… If I had a DeLorean time machine, I would go back and tell young Shania to write more ballads and use less damn words, girl!!!”
She continued, “But in all seriousness – thank you so much for presenting me with this award; it’s really still so wonderful to feel like you have created a legacy, like your contribution to the world has been meaningful in some way. Thank you.”
Several fans and friends respond to the post with multiple heart emojis. One fan commented, “Legend so beautiful. Congratulations.” Another fan wrote, “Love, love you, even more, your a queen boss women your music is powerful. Your mom would have been so proud. God bless you xo.” One more fan wrote, “Keep up the great work, sister.”
In an Instagram post before the show got underway, Twain posted a fun video clip of the show’s host Kenan Thompson and herself out by her trailer. Thompson is dressed like Shania in leopard print as they danced together. Kenan captioned the fun clip, “@shaniatwain explaining the best thing about being a woman! Very informative!!”
Many fans reacted to that video, including one who quipped, “Please tell me she’s in good burger 2.” Another fan wrote, “Not Kenan living my one and only dream.” One more fan said, “Best video ever!!!!!!!!”
