Reba Loves Garth Brooks’s Vegas Style Shows
Reba McEntire is very busy these days. She’s a coach on NBC’s The Voice, she just released a new book and an acoustic album.
When we talked with Reba recently, we asked if she would ever be interested in touring acoustically in the style of her new stripped-down acoustic album of hits. She told us, “Yes, I would. Back in 1999, I think it was, we did the ‘Singer’s Diary,’ where it was the story of my life like a play, and that was a lot of fun. It was a lot of work, but it was very rewarding and fun to do.”
She continued, “It was very emotional, and so we’ve talked about doing something scaled down because you can only get so big with all the bells and whistles with smoke and mirrors and twenty-three trucks and going down the full arena with your stage runway.”
Reba added, “So about all you can do is go the opposite way. When you’re up on stage, kind of like Garth (Brooks) did on his Vegas run with just him and a guitar. I would need more people because I don’t play an instrument that well, but I think it would be fun.”
McEntire gushed of Brooks’ Vegas shows, “I love Garth’s one-man show, he told so many fun stories, and we learned so much more about him that I hadn’t known before as long as I’ve known Garth. So, yeah, I definitely would do that.”

Reba recently released a lifestyle book called Not That Fancy: Simple Lessons on Living, Loving, Eating, and Dusting Off Your Boots. The book includes over 50 recipes from Reba’s family traditions and her restaurant, Reba’s Place (Atoka, Oklahoma), as well as many photos and stories.
The country icon told us how she gathered stuff for the book, “I mainly at the beginning stuck with the stories through my little app, and then we needed pictures. I have a lot of pictures. I want to tell you how many I have on my phone right now; it’s a lot if I can figure out how to do it. Well, I can’t figure it out, but there are a bunch; they’re in the hundred thousands.”
