After 13 Years, Jan’s Sperm Donor on The Office Has Finally Been Revealed
After 13 long years, the identity of the sperm donor Jan Levinson (Melora Hardin) used to get pregnant has offically been revealed. It’s no other than tennis player Andy Roddick.
Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly) and Angela Kinsey (Angela Martin) made the big reveal on their Office Ladies Podcast. In the podcast they gave listeners a taste of what it was like working behind the scenes during the season four finale “Goodbye Toby.”
Kinsey went on to give details about the original script for the episode in which Levinson reveals to Scott that Roddick was the sperm donor and father to Astrid Levinson.
Heres how it would have played out:
“The tennis player?” asked Scott.
“Well, it’s a little more than that. He’s the sixth-ranked player in the world and he’s won four grand slams,” Levinson answered.
‘That’s a lot of grand slams, I guess,” Scott responds.
Levinson went on to say, “he’s a humanitarian, something with orphans.”
The two would have sat together in silence for a little while, then Scott would have asked, “can I just sit here for a minute without more things coming into my head?”
However, the scene did not make the final cut into the 2008 office episode.
Fischer explained that Roddick was a good friend of Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute) and would often visit the set.
“I have to imagine that the reason they wrote it as being Andy Roddick’s sperm was a little bit of a nod to Roddick, who has an amazing sense of humor. I am so sad for his sake that this did not stay in the episode,” said Fischer.
