Thomas Rhett Amazed At Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’
I got to speak with Thomas Rhett backstage at TidalWave Music Festival 2023. We talked about family, his new project, and Taylor Swift.
I have followed Thomas Rhett’s career closely since the first time I met him. He has evolved a lot, now married for longer than 10 years and raising four children. Thomas told me that evolution has been fun for him, especially now that he writes about deeper topics, like family and fatherhood.
Thomas Rhett headlined the first day of TidalWave Music Festival on Friday, August 11. I asked if he ever dreamed he would get to a point like he’s at now in his career. He is working on a project that has 20 songs, and he’s working his way to 21. His success in country music is mounting, and to me, it still feels like it’s only up from here for Rhett.
The two of us also took the opportunity to joke around about Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour. Thomas’ children like her music, and he finds himself amazed at how she constructed a 3-hour concert where people never get bored.

Thomas Rhett: 14 Songs That Show Why He Is A Superstar
Thomas Rhett celebrates his 33rd birthday today (3/30) and is also celebrating the first anniversary of his Where We Started album on Saturday (4/1). Thomas reflects on where he and his wife Lauren started over a decade ago.
Rhett told us, “Just kinda looking back at the last decade of our lives … Shoot, 2012, when I was playing 600 shows a year, and Lauren was with me on the tour bus with nine other dudes, it felt like we were never going to get out of that. And my wife, being like, ‘Man, how many times have we been to Wisconsin this year?'”
He continued, “I wake up now, and I’m like, we have four children; so much has changed in my career from just success to bigger rooms to getting to do neat collaborations with people. And sometimes you wake up, and you’re like, man, today is tough. And you look back at your past, and you’re like, yeah, but think about where we were. And I think whether you do music, or whatever you do, I think anyone can look back at their past, and be like man, looking at where we are now, compared to where we were, the future looks pretty bright.”
