Wilt Chamberlain Docuseries Premiering On Showtime
Showtime will celebrate the “historic life, career, and impact of Wilt Chamberlain” with GOLIATH, a three-part docuseries.
The Overbrook native built his legacy as a local legend during a professional career that included stints with the Philadelphia Warriors and the Philadelphia 76ers.
The AMC Theatre on North Broad Street on the campus of Temple University, better known as the old Pearl Theatre, will host a special Philadelphia premiere on Thursday, July 13.

“Wilt the Stilt” (an iconic nickname that Chamberlain supposedly never liked) burst onto the scene during the 1950s locally with an insurmountable high school career and nationally during an NCAA career at Kansas.
He became a professional legend of the 1960s and 1970s with freakish athleticism that simply didn’t exist elsewhere during his era.

Chamberlain spent 14 seasons in the NBA with the Warriors, Sixers, and Los Angeles Lakers. He won the 1967 NBA Finals with Sixers. Later, he became part of the Lakers team that won an NBA record 33 consecutive games and won the NBA Finals in 1972.
He dominated his era unlike any player in the history of the sport.
His single-game records of 100 points and 55 rebounds stand to this day. He even averaged over 48 minutes per game twice in his career because of overtime minutes. No current or future NBA player will ever approach the all-time record.
However, the docuseries will also dive into the social impact that Chamberlain had on society as one of the first superstar American athletes.

GOLIATH on Showtime
GOLIATH becomes available on demand and on streaming platforms for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers on Friday, July 14.
It premiers on Showtime on Sunday, July 16. Additional episodes will air each Sunday night.

The Philadelphia premiere will boast an impressive list of guests including Olin Chamberlain, Wilt’s nephew and Board Member of the Wilt Chamberlain Memorial Fund, and Lara Price, COO of the Philadelphia 76ers.
