Watch Trea Turner Ejected For Arguing Strike Three
Ouch, not a good look for the star shortstop. Trea Turner ejected for arguing a third strike call in the fifth inning of Phillies-Orioles game. Ultimately, the Phillies lost the game 3-2 after threatening in the bottom of the eighth and ninth inning.
You know we love the Phillies on The Andie Summers Show and, not that we love our players getting ejected, it sure is fascinating. Remember when J.T. Realmuto got tossed during Spring Training? Yeah, I (Jeff Kurkjian) was actually at that game.
Orioles Visit The Phillies At Citizens Bank Park
The Orioles were sporting the second best record in baseball heading into Monday night’s game so the Phillies knew this would be a tough matchup for them.
You couldn’t ask for a better outing from Cristopher Sanchez who pitched seven innings and struck out eight Orioles batters. Then we get to the bottom of the fifth inning. Garrett Stubbs would score on a sacrifice fly from Kyle Schwarber and then all hell broke loose from shortstop Trea Turner.
Here’s a recap of the game from MLB. Unfortunately it didn’t go the Phils way.
Trea Turner Ejected For Arguing With Umpire
As a former umpire, you just don’t argue balls and strikes. Honestly, that’s one of the easiest ways to get thrown out of game. Turner was already having a rough inning committing his second error of the game in the top of the fifth and then this happened.
Was it a close pitch? Sure. But you gotta go up there swinging with two strikes on you Trea.
