Trea Turner Ovation From Philly Fans Really Worked, We Have Proof
The stats speak louder than our hearts. The Trea Turner ovation done by Philadelphia Phillies fans really did turn his season around. It happened on August 4th and everything has been different since then.
Trea Turner Ovation
Philadelphia fans are known for not really being forgiving at all. In fact, remember what happened to Alec Bohm last year? He was caught mouthing something about “hating this place” in more or less words, fans went after him, he fessed up to it and fans embraced him!
Trea Turner signed an 11-year, $300 million contract in the offseason to come back with his former teammate, Bryce Harper, here in Philadelphia. Hopes were high for him but the beginning of the season has been anything but a success. From the beginning of the season to August 3rd, he was batting just .235, one of the lowest batting averages of all the starters, with just ten homeruns.
Then, everything changed on August 4th. Watch this.
Since August 4 when Phillies fans gave Trea Turner a standing ovation in an attempt to turn his struggles around, Turner’s hitting .353 with a 1.007 OPS. Over that span, he leads the team in hits (24), doubles (6), and total bases (42). pic.twitter.com/tlLJDy6VMi

Trea Turner Since The Ovation
Since the ovation, he has been hitting .359 with eight homeruns (as of the morning of August 30th). A DRAMATIC change since the beginning of the season.
Even he admits it has something to do with it.
"The ovation definitely started it"

Trea Turner Thanks The Fans
Trea Turner was SO grateful for the fans embracing him that in he in fact bought BILLBOARDS to thank all of Philly. Big shoutout to our friend Gina Cosenza for that great article.

This Is Why Philly Fans Are The Best
Instead of booing him out of town and making him feel terrible (which is what a lot of fan bases, including Philly, have done before) they decided to embrace him and boy did it pay off.
