Inflammatory Bowel Disease With Dr. Sanket Patel, Virtua Health
Nicole Michalik and Marisa Magnatta speak with Dr. Sanket Patel, a gastroenterologist who specializes in treating patients with advanced IBD or inflammatory bowel disease.
He is the director of the newly opened Virtua Crohn’s & Colitis Center, providing specialized medical, nutritional, and emotional care for advanced IBD – all in one location in Moorestown, NJ.
Understanding Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a term that describes long-term, or chronic, inflammation of tissues in your digestive tract.
IBD is an autoimmune disorder, meaning the body’s immune system attacks healthy tissue. It is not always clear what triggers flare-ups of IBD, or why some people develop the condition and not others.
