Ben & Jerry’s is Getting an Ice-Cream Flavor Challenge on Food Network
A new series is coming with a delicious challenge: Create a new ice cream flavor for Ben & Jerry’s.
“Ben & Jerry’s: Clash of the Cones” will debut on Monday, August 16 at 9p.m. on Food Network and Discovery Plus. The four-episode series will feature six ice cream creators across the United States.
Molly Yeh is set to host and there will also be celebrity guests who will offer direction. A few celebrities scheduled to appear are Kevin Bacon, Buddy Valastro, Duff Goldman and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges.
The competitors will work in an specifically-constructed ice cream lab on the Ben & Jerry’s factory grounds in Waterbury, Vermont. Their creations will be judged by Ben & Jerry’s flavor expert Chris Rivard, Jet and Ali Tila and the public according to IMBD. The public will also vote on their favorite flavor to help decide who will move on and whose ice cream will be sent to the “Flavor Graveyard.”
“Viewers are in for an imaginative and entertaining ride, watching along as these gifted ice cream makers create original Ben & Jerry’s flavors, based on inspiration from some of the biggest stars on the planet in food, music, and film. This is the perfect show for the entire family to gather around and watch this summer,” Courtney White, president, Food Network and Cooking Channel said in a statement.
The ice cream makers will compete for the grand prize of $20,000 and a chance to impress Ben & Jerry’s co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield.
“We’re excited to see what these talented competitors come up with, keeping true to the euphoric chunks and swirls Ben & Jerry’s is known for,” Greenfield said in a statement. “It’s going to be great!”
The show’s producers have yet to announce if the winning flavor will be produced for public sale.
